A Fashion Mermaid

Remember that movie from the early ’80s, in which almost inexplicably a mermaid lands on the beaches of New York? The title was “Splash, a mermaid in Manhattan“, and it would seem that from this sentence (not from the film’s plot)the Caten twins, Creative Directors of  Dsquared2, have begun to create a fabulous, fluid and sensual evening gown.

The fabric that slides along the body, with only a seam just above the waist and its intense turquoise colour, refer to an underwater world populated by supernatural beauty of the mermaids, but on the other hand, the draperies on the very deep neckline, the intersection on his back and the drawstring that drops malicious along the neckline, evoke the cool and transgressive atmosphere of the legendary Studio 54 in New York.

Vi ricordate quel film della prima metà degli anni ’80, nel quale una sirena approda quasi inspiegabilmente sulle spiagge di New York? Il titolo era “Splash, una sirena a Manhattan”, e sembrerebbe che proprio da questa frase (non dalla trama del film) i gemelli Caten, direttori creativi di Dsquared2, siano partiti per la creazione di un favoloso abito da sera fluido e sensuale.

Il tessuto che scivola lungo tutto il corpo, ripreso appena sul punto vita e il suo intenso color turchese, rimandano ad un mondo sottomarino popolato dalla bellezza soprannaturale delle sirene, ma d’altra parte, i drappeggi sulla profondissima scollatura, l’incrocio sulla schiena e il laccio che scende malizioso lungo il decolleté, rievocano le atmosfere cool e trasgressive del mitico Studio 54 di New York.

Un concetto di sirena decisamente metropolitano, contemporaneo ed elegantemente sensuale, interpretato con tutto il glamour e l’audacia tipici di Dsquared2, brand che dal 2003 veste celebrities del calibro di Christina Aguilera e Rihanna.
